Tonight on December 21, 2020, at sunset, the world will behold a rare phenomenon. It’s being called the Christmas Star. It is the convergence of Jupiter, the 5th planet from the sun, and Saturn the 6th planet from the sun. It is believed that this happened at the birth of Christ 2000 years ago. I honestly do not know if that is true, as the star that showed up at the Savior’s birth is believed to have followed the Christ child wherever he and his family went and the star lasted at least 2 years before disappearing after the arrival of the Magi.
But this phenomenon has piqued my interest. It is believed that this same event, Jupiter and Saturn converging to create a bright light in the heavens happened 800 years ago. So let’s break this down a bit.
Jupiter is the 5th planet from the sun. If we were to investigate the number 5, we would discover that 5 is associated with grace; specifically God’s grace. All through the Bible, we can see similarities of 5 and grace. Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun, and 6 is associated with man. If this is actually the Christmas star, it makes sense because God’s grace did actually converge with mankind the night Christ was born. God with us! But there is more! This same phenomenon happened 800 years ago. Can there be a hidden meaning in that? Possibly, as the number 8 is associated with new beginnings. After God rested on the 7th day from His creation, there was an 8th day. It was a new day. It was a new beginning.
Whether this phenomenon is actually the Christmas star that showed up on the night of our Savior’s birth, or possibly something else, matter’s very little to me. What does matter is the hidden message we can find in the midst of all of this. God’s grace has intersected with mankind. His grace is abundant to every man, woman, and child. That’s worth recognition. There is a new beginning happening now and we can be a part of that new beginning.
Let’s be light in a dark world just like this Christmas star, and the darkness will not overwhelm it.
"And this Living Expression is the Light that bursts through gloom —
the Light that darkness could not diminish!" John 1:5 TPT
